About Us

The Story So Far

Rob began singing karaoke in the early 90’s and setup his first collection of Karaoke Laser Discs during his teen years. Hosting karaoke parties with friends, he decided to pursue his interest and Next Generation Karaoke was born in 2007.

Rach joined Rob hosting in 2010 across numerous venues around Perth. We have performed at hotels regularly, and have hosted all functions from weddings to major corporate functions.

We have a large library of karaoke tracks, and use only top quality sound equipment.

We have run numerous successful competitions in partnership with the venues we perform at, including the highly regarded Karaoke World Championships in 2010, 2011 & 2012.

Our songbook contains around 20,000 tracks from the 1950’s to the current chart tracks, Country & Western, Showtunes and Children’s Songs. We maintain 1:1 ratio between our legal karaoke discs and digital purchases, meaning we don’t put your venue at risk by utilising pirated music. We hold relevant licensing and manufacturer approval to use our tracks digitally.

We offer a fresh dynamic approach to the way we present ourselves, and our shows.

We purchase the latest releases from Zoom and Capital Karaoke and also update regularly with requested tracks from Sunfly, Zoom and Karaoke Version.

We are currently free any night, subject to private bookings, if you are a venue looking for hosts please contact us for information.

Rotation & How It Works

People quite often ask, why am I waiting to sing, this is where we give you the answer.

All karaoke shows run their own form of rotation. Depending on how busy a night is, you might get up straight away, other times you might wait a while.

We run our rotation based on a first in first served policy. If you arrive at the start of the night, and put in your songs, that then reserves your place in the queue for the rest of the show.

We allow 1 song per singer, per round, a duet counts as 1 song for each person in that round. Once the first round is over, we then proceed to continue into the second round keeping the singers in the same order.

If you arrive later in the night, and don’t manage to get your song into the first round, then we will generally try to slot you into the following round, remembering that the people that have been there all night, or had their requests in early may still get a song before new singers.

We generally will not refuse any new singers, unless it is the end of the night when we have announced no more requests. This means that we have enough songs in for current singers, and can’t fit any more songs in.

Some nights can be quieter, and on those nights we may join in the rotation at the top of the round so we can space out our performers, if it is a busy night then we only open the show then leave the rest of the singing to patrons 🙂

Basic philosophy as always is get in early!

Karaoke Golden Rules

We have come up with some basic guidelines to ensure everyone enjoys their visit to any of our shows.

We ask that you only submit 3 songs, some nights can get busy and unless we need more songs, this is generally enough.

We do not allow drinks to be brought up with you when you sing. Spillage can damage our equipment and mean that we cannot continue with the show.

We ask that you respect other singers, when it’s not your turn to sing, don’t enter the performance area.

Treat our equipment with respect! Microphones are made for you to sing through, not to be used as hammers, twirling batons, frisbees or anything else.

If we deem that you have had too much to drink, you will not be allowed to sing.

Singers must be aged 18 or older.

Be nice to us!!
